Last summer, Maria and her family went to Italy for their holiday. They spent two weeks exploring beautiful cities and enjoying delicious food.
First, they visited Rome, the capital of Italy. They saw the Colosseum, an ancient Roman amphitheater, and the Vatican City, where they visited St. Peter’s Basilica. Maria was amazed by the history and the beautiful architecture. Every day, they walked around the city and discovered new places. One of Maria’s favorite moments was when they ate Italian gelato near the Trevi Fountain.
After Rome, they traveled to Florence. Florence is famous for its art and museums. They visited the Uffizi Gallery, where they saw many famous paintings. Maria also enjoyed walking along the Arno River and visiting the shops that sold leather bags and shoes. Florence was smaller than Rome, but it was just as exciting.
The last place they visited was Venice. Venice is a city on water. Maria’s family took a gondola ride through the canals. They also visited St. Mark’s Square and fed the pigeons. Maria loved Venice because it was so different from any other city she had seen before.
After two weeks of adventure, Maria and her family returned home with lots of photos and happy memories. Maria hopes to visit Italy again one day.
